How We Work
Modern Lab helps brands understand the haircare OEM/ODM cooperation process from requirement review to sampling, packaging discussion, production planning, and shipment. Each project is evaluated based on product type, formula conditions, packaging format, label requirements, documentation needs, and production schedule, so we can identify a practical cooperation approach for the brand’s actual project requirements.
What is the process for OEM/ODM collaboration in the hair product industry?
Our hair product OEM/ODM collaboration process typically begins with confirming requirements. Based on product direction, reference samples, packaging material needs, estimated quantity, and launch schedule, we further evaluate sampling, quotation, mass production, and shipping arrangements. Different product types and packaging conditions may affect the actual schedule and production planning.
The following process is for preliminary reference only. Actual cooperation arrangements will be evaluated based on product conditions and the current schedule.

01 Inquery
We first review your product type, current project stage, target market, estimated quantity, packaging direction and expected launch timeline.
If available, you can also provide reference samples, formula information or product specifications.
This step helps us understand whether the project is suitable for further evaluation and clarify the product, packaging, documentation and production details that may need to be discussed.
02 Product Evaluation
Modern Lab starts by reviewing the available project information, including product direction, reference samples, texture, fragrance, expected user experience, formula conditions, and packaging requirements, to evaluate whether the project is suitable for development, sampling, or production discussion.
If your product is still at the concept stage, we can first discuss the target cleansing feel, conditioning feel, freshness, fragrance direction, and usage scenario. If you already have samples or specifications, we can further evaluate whether the project is ready for haircare OEM production planning.

03 Sampling/Sample Review
Based on the confirmed product direction, we proceed with sampling, sample review or evaluation of your existing sample.
This stage may include discussion of product appearance, texture, fragrance, usage experience and possible adjustment directions.
If your product already has a clear formula or sample, we will also review whether it is ready for packaging, labeling, documentation and production condition evaluation.
04 Quotation Confirmation
Once the product direction, sample conditions, packaging format, label versions, estimated quantity and documentation needs are clearer, we will evaluate the quotation and related project conditions.
At this stage, we may confirm product specifications, capacity, packaging and label requirements, additional documentation or overseas market needs, estimated production quantity, lead time and payment terms.
These details provide the basis for production scheduling and project confirmation.

05 Manufacturing
After product conditions, quotation, packaging, labels and related documentation arrangements are confirmed, production can be scheduled.
Manufacturing is carried out according to ISO 22716 / GMP-based processes, with production and quality control arranged according to product characteristics and manufacturing requirements.
06 Packaging & Shipment
After manufacturing and final confirmation, products are packed and shipped according to packaging method, label versions, shipment requirements and logistics arrangements.
For multi-channel packaging, different label versions, overseas markets or special shipment needs, arrangements will be confirmed based on actual project conditions.

Why do the Process and Timeline Need to Be Evaluated Case by Case?
The cooperation process and timeline are evaluated case by case based on product type, formula development depth, packaging readiness, label information, documentation needs, and current production capacity.
To help Modern Lab provide a more useful initial review, we recommend sharing your product direction, estimated quantity, packaging requirements, and launch timeline when submitting an OEM/ODM inquiry. This allows us to better evaluate the suitable sampling approach, quotation conditions, and production schedule.
What information should I prepare before making a consultation?
Even if your specifications are not finalized yet, you can still share your initial direction.
The following information helps us evaluate your project more efficiently:

Frequently Asked Questions about the Collaboration Process
-
What step does a hair product OEM collaboration usually begin with?
The process usually starts with confirming the requirements. Brands can provide product direction, reference samples, estimated quantities, packaging material needs, and target markets. Lingyu will then assist in the initial assessment to determine if it is suitable to proceed with sampling or further discussion.
-
When can I get a quote?
A more complete quote can usually be estimated only after the product type, capacity, packaging materials, estimated quantity, labeling requirements, and sampling direction are confirmed. If the conditions are not yet clear, the quote may need to be confirmed in stages.
-
Once the sample is confirmed, can we proceed directly to mass production?
After the sample is confirmed, it is still necessary to confirm the packaging materials, labeling information, document requirements, raw material preparation, and current production capacity arrangements. If the brand can confirm the capacity, packaging materials, labeling version, and estimated quantity in advance, subsequent quotations and mass production scheduling will be smoother.
If you are still organizing your requirements, you can first refer to the FAQs to understand basic information such as product types, service content, packaging materials, and MOQ.
